The thing I notice most about the registered version of FSUIPC is the ability to have random icing and random turbulence within clouds, which really keep you on your toes. It also allows you to set infinite battery, and set aircraft specific key commands. It also lets you curve you flight controls (More sensitive in certain areas). Visibility and wind smoothing are also a big plus.Hi Joseph, Is the 'random icing' even modeled? I have always had it on and was just wondering if you ever noticed anything. I haven't, yet anyway;).

I know I could have posted such a topic on Pete's forum but I think the community is more alive here. So, What are the fundamental differences between the free (unregistered) version of FSUIPC vs the full (registered) version? If I am perfectly capable to fly using a free version, what's in it for me to buy a fully licenced product?I hope some of you can answer this quesiton and provide insight as to what the full version offers to the simmers that they can't get using the free version. The paid version unlocks all of the features that are greyed out in the free version. I bought it primarily to gain full control of my yolk; rudder throttles e.t.c and weather settings including calibration of those settings. Most everything otherwise works as well on the free version although there is the occasional add-on (producer will usually state. Sorry to be such a newby BUT how hard is it to use as it sounds a bit complicated? Are you prompted, when you want to do things, or do you have to alter FSX 'files'? I am okay with changing controls, settings and sensitivities in FSX and doing some things with config files. Not sure about this.Does it run w/n or outside of FSX?I am interested primarily, so far, in wind smoothing and auto saving.

Also maybe 'curving some of my flight controls', if I am understanding that right.Any 'for dummies' manuals on this out there some whereThanks!! Hi guys,I recently performed a clean install of P3Dv3.4.2 and most of my addons, and in order for my ACARS application for my virtual airline to operate, I need FSUIPC. I've run the installer exe and was given the chance to enter the registration - all seemed fine and jazzy. However, FSUIPC doesn't appear under the addons tab within the simulator, though all of my other addons (GSX, the like) do appear. I've had FSUIPC run successfully on P3D before, so I'm not certain as to why it may not be working now. Here's the install log:Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.971Looking in registry for FSX install path:HKEYLOCALMACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator10.0Parameter'SetupPath'Not there, so looking in:HKEYCURRENTUSERSOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator10.0Parameter'AppPath'. Alright, so:I went ahead and performed my 3rd clean install of both P3Dv3.4 and FSUIPC. I've spent more time perusing the forums, and noticed a lot of mention of the FSUIPC.ini/FSUIPC4.ini file that might need modified in order for the program to actually run in the simulator.

However, looking in the Modules folder where the.ini file is supposed to be located, I don't see it anywhere.Looking through other forums, I've found that most people aren't able to see the.ini file because of a Windows Explorer setting that says 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives', as well as 'hide extensions for known file types'. I have each of those checked and unchecked respectively so that the file should be visible if it isn't present, and yet it still isn't there. So, moving forward I think the lack of a FSUIPC.ini (or FSUIPC4.ini, as I'm told it might be called) file may be the reason that it isn't appearing in the simulator. Thanks for the help thus far. The ini file is a plain text file created when you run FSUIPC. It is not a hidden file. Are tyhere any messages in the event viewer when you run P3D?Your folders are set up so that the P3D.exe file is in D: correct? Not D:P3D3 or something like that. The program should run and create the ini file.

What files and folders do you have in the D:MODULES subfolder?I know it's a pain but I'd like you to try one more thing -Uninstall P3D3 - create a new folder on your D: drive ( I assume that's where you want it) called P3D3Install P3D into THAT folder (D:P3D3). Be sure to RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR during the installNext also using RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR install FSUIPC.Next, run P3D3 AS ADMINISTRATORSee if that helps.Vic. Alright, I've done a number of uninstalls and reinstalls since the initial post, so here is the current orientation of my P3D files before I go ahead and reinstall to start experimenting:Current location of Prepar3D.exe, which is located by the FSUIPC installer: D:P3D. (Meaning, this time around reinstalling, I decided to devote a specific folder on my D drive to P3D)The current contents of my Modules folder is as follows:FSUIPC4 Install.logFSUIPC4.DLLFSUIPC4.keySimConnectP3D3.dllThis is how it's been for the past couple of days of trying to solve this; I've never once seen the.ini file anywhere present in this folder, nor anywhere else.

Often it's pointed out on the forums that the file can be hidden, but I've followed every instruction to be sure that it isn't hidden. Here's something strange that I tried: I renamed my P3D folder as you suggested, 'P3D3', and emptied my Modules folder. Then I ran the FSUIPC installer as administrator, and for the first time it asked me to manually locate Prepar3D.exe for it. Update:I went ahead and reinstalled P3D as administrator into a folder named Prepar3D v3 on my D drive, and ran it once. Afterwards I installed FSUIPC4 as administrator, and found that there still isn't a.ini file in the Modules folder. On the bright side, uninstalling and reinstalling P3D is becoming less and less laborous, so I'm a bit more motivated to solve whatever the problem is.No 'FSUIPC Documents' folder in your FSUIPC Modules folder? As a test:Create a test.txt file with Notepad and put it on your desktop.Copy the Test.txt file to your FSUIPC Modules folder.Rename the test.txt in the Modules folder to Test.iniDoes the.ini file show up in your FSUIPC Modules folder? The INI file is NOT there until you run P3D after installing FSUIPC.

After running P3D after the FSUIPC module, you should have two additional files - FSUIPC.INI and FSUIPC.LOG - note - this is NOT the install log.Just to verify - you ARE doing an UNINSTALL and reinstall of P3D - not a delete and reinstall? I ask because the unregistered message is strange BUT as long as P3D doesn't tell you you are unregistered, you are good.If the FSUIPC.DLL is in the modules folder, then it should load and run with P3D - hopefully there will be a log created. Another possibility is a simconnect error.Vic. Martyson,Apologies, there IS also the FSUIPC Documents folder within my Modules folder; it has always been there, I forgot to list it however.I went ahead and created the test.txt file and followed your instructions, and after changing it to a.ini file, the test.ini file appeared, but not the elusive.ini file that we're looking for. So we can agree that it isn't being hidden.Vic,I'm indeed doing an entire uninstall of P3D each time, and running everything that I can as administrator to be safe.Maybe it IS a Simconnect issue then; otherwise I'm at a loss of what to do. Do I need to go to the redist folder where I installed P3D and run each of the Simconnect installers there?

Or is there a certain file somewhere within P3D that needs adjusted/tweaked in order to allow it to connect to the simulator? Thanks to all for the persistence,Matt.
